Russell Westbrook and the Oklahoma City Thunder hosted the first of two returns OKC fans were looking forward to this season. While all eyes are obviously on Kevin Durant’s OKC arrival, another member of what once was the Thunder’s ‘core four’ returned on Sunday night.
Serge Ibaka, who was sent to the Orlando Magic during a draft night trade, returned to Chesapeake Energy Arena to take on his former squad. Ibaka put up a career-high 31 points and also hit the game-winner but Russ did some serious damage of his own.
Westbrook posted his third triple-double of the season when he scored 41 points on 14-21 shooting including going 13-18 from the free throw line and he also handed out 16 assists and grabbed 12 rebounds on the night.
Check out his highlights below.
For the first time in 20 games, the Thunder lost a game in which Westbrook posted a triple-double. In total, Westbrook becomes the eighth player in NBA history to reach the 45 triple-doubles mark for their career and the Thunder’s record when he reaches a triple-double is insane.
Thunder are 35-5 when Westbrook triple-doubles, 39-6 including the playoffs. https://t.co/K68ZnDYyh3

It just further proves that the future of the OKC Thunder rests in the hands of Russell Westbrook but he needs some help if they want to make some noise.
