Russell Westbrook’s reign of terror continues.
On Monday, the Oklahoma City Thunder star carried his team to a win once again. Facing the red-hot Utah Jazz, Westbrook became the unstoppable force that broke a seemingly immovable object.
Westbrook scored 38 points (on a not-so-endearing 11-29 shooting from the field) and added 10 rebounds and 10 assists. He also contributed some on the defensive end with four steals and one block.
This was the point guard’s 59th career triple-double tying him with Larry Bird for fifth all time. Ahead of Westbrook are Oscar Robertson (181), Magic Johnson (138), Jason Kidd (107), and Wilt Chamberlain (78).
But Westbrook’s night was not over with the triple-double. After a big bucket from Jazz forward Gordon Hayward to give Utah a late lead, Westbrook came back with some heroics of his own. Using a strong (and probably illegal) Steven Adams screen, Westbrook exploded to the mid-range to hit the eventual game-winner.

The game was basically a microcosm of Russell Westbrook’s phenomenal season. He did not score efficiently and had six turnovers, but his production all over the floor and the clutch factor down the stretch makes him the hero once again.
