Enigmatic Oklahoma City Thunder guard Russell Westbrook has always been one to voice his opinion and that is likely to never change.
That trend held true when Westbrook was asked about the recent teacher strike that’s been taking place state-wide in Oklahoma. Despite many having mixed feelings on the matter, Westbrook expressed his full support for their cause and their movement. Following from ESPN’s Royce Young.

With Russell Westbrook being an active member of his community and a young son of his own that will likely be in the school system down the road, it makes sense for the superstar to be concerned about education, even with strikes technically being illegal in Oklahoma.
With pay sparse for many teachers and the lack of educational funding being arguably the most egregious in Oklahoma out of all 50 states, the teachers have plenty of motive to strike. Teachers all organized a statewide walkout of classrooms just this past Monday and with the movement ongoing, the chances of further resistance are more than likely.
As for Westbrook, being a lifelong member of the Thunder so far in his career has nurtured the close bond he shares with the state and Oklahoma City. His loyalty and commitment to the community is felt and with his support, hopefully, it makes a difference and the educational funding is upped, though this has been an issue Oklahoma has been dealing with for the better part of the past decade.
