Russell Westbrook has had a crazy season. The history he has written this year has been amazing to watch. It’s people like that, even though he’s a tad reckless at times, that make the NBA so great. The passion, the hunger for success. Got to love it.
Westbrook has done so much work in such little time, he will most likely clinch the scoring title that looked like it was going to Houston’s James Harden. But all those triple doubles and carrying a whole team paid off. Now they have to beat Minnesota and hope Gregg Popovich doesn’t rest everyone on the Spurs roster. You know what? Expect the Spurs to call up their whole D-League squad. That wouldn’t surprise me.
Despite all the scoring, Westbrook could take or leave the scoring title. According to ESPN, it’s all about the Playoffs for Russell.
“I never really thought I’d be winning anything close to a scoring title,” Westbrook said. “But I’d rather be in the playoffs than win the scoring title, to tell you the truth.”
“We have no choice. It’s win or go home,” Westbrook said. “We’ve got to go out and take care of our business. That’s all we can do is handle what we do.“
Take care of business. Remember they don’t have control of their destiny. New Orleans owns the tiebreaker. So if they both win (or lose). It’ll be the Pelicans that will go to the Playoffs to get swept by Golden State.
