Russell Westbrook is not a normal guy. That’s been made very, very clear over the years. He goes by the beat of his own drum. Whether he shoots down any potential ‘cute’ drama between him and a specific former teammate, sings a new teammate to sleep or even sends subtle shots through cupcakes on instagram, Westbrook really does what he wants.
So there has to be a method behind his hot start this season. Extra time in the gym is a possibility. Talking about strategy with coaches and teammates is more likely of a situation but something he absolutely doesn’t do is watch game film. Russell Westbrook can’t be bothered by the game film, he just hit a boat on the flop in the poker game on his phone.
Russell Westbrook on why he doesn't watch film: "My job is to worry about what I'm able to do. Hopefully, they can stop that." pic.twitter.com/569JWUr1S3

Here’s his full quote.
“I don’t worry about other people. My job is to worry about what I’m able to do and hopefully they can stop that. Usually I just sit out and chill, relax, I play poker on my phone, play spades on my phone, listen to music. That’s about it. I don’t really pay too much attention to the game. Personnel-wise I’m able to pick up things very quickly throughout the game and play.”
If Westbrook can average 32 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 9.9 assists through 11 games without watching any film, I can only imagine what it would be like if he did pop his head up whenever he had a bad hand. But then again, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
