Russell Westbrook has been hinting at the conception of his line of fashion for some time now, but this weekend the reigning MVP will debut his fashion at a pop-up market in Oklahoma City.
The superstar point guard is heavily involved in the creative process of his “The Gift clothing line.” Westbrook’s passion for fashion is just as strong as his passion for playing high-level basketball, according to Jean Palmieri of WWD.com.
“I’m going to take it one day at a time,” he said. “I’m doing it for the community and the culture, not to make huge revenue off of it. Fashion is something I love to do, and this will have my fingerprint on it.”
Westbrook apparently has worn a “couple pieces” from collection to some of the early games of the season. However, he won’t reveal who is responsible for the manufacturing if his clothes.
Westbrook wouldn’t say where the line is being manufactured or by whom. “I do a lot of things and have helped a lot of people in fashion,” he said, “so I’ve got a lot of relationships and was able to get the clothes done at a quick pace.”
For Westbrook, this is a chance to provide Oklahoma City a glimpse at the work and dedication that he puts into his fashion.
The pop-up will take place from 2 PM t6 PMPM on November 11th and 12th at Pen Automotive in Oklahoma City Thunder. Items from the collection will be available for purchase online on November 21st.
