Fans have been waiting for Russell Westbrook to sign his extension with the Oklahoma City Thunder for weeks. While that deal remains unsigned, the Thunder point guard has signed a different extension.
According to ESPN’s Nick DePaula, Westbrook has inked a ten-year extension with the Jordan Brand:
The long-term extension will link the 28-year-old Westbrook with Jordan Brand through as long as the 2025-2026 NBA season. The deal will also include both on- and off-court signature sneakers, new territory for Westbrook. As he’s continued to lead the Air Jordan game shoe each season, the brand launched two off-court geared silhouettes, dubbed the Westbrook 0.1 and 0.2, but had held off on designing a performance signature shoe for the hardwood.
DePaula also reports that the extension signifies the Jordan Brand beginning development on a signature basketball shoe for the reigning league MVP.
Terms of the extension have not been released or reported but based on the going rate as well as Westbrook’s ever-growing star power, it’s likely to be an enormous total.
The Thunder superstar has made his love of fashion well known since being drafted into the league. With Jordan, he can add his talents into helping design a sneaker as the face of the world-famous shoe wear company.
