In just 26 minutes, Russell Westbrook notched his 17th triple-double of the season with 13 points, 14 rebounds and 12 assists in a 124-102 win for the Oklahoma City Thunder against the Denver Nuggets. Westbrook ties Magic Johnson, who had 17 triple-doubles in the 1988-89 season, for second most triple-doubles in a single season.
Westbrook is still chasing Magic, though. One more triple-double will tie Magic’s single-season record of 18 triple-doubles set in the 1981-82 season.
Seven of Westbrook’s 17 triple-doubles didn’t require he play in the fourth quarter. Here’s another stat:
Most consecutive wins when having a triple-double:
Magic – 24
Wilt – 21
Westbrook – 17
Kidd – 16

Westbrook is up to 35 career triple-doubles, which is second to only LeBron James among active players.
