Saturday The New York Knicks were eliminated from the playoffs by The Atlanta Hawks. Now they have a big question hanging over their head, “What is Carmelo Anthony going to do?” This has been one of the most important questions for a greater part of the season. Will Anthony opt out of his contract with the Knicks to play elsewhere for the 2014-2015 season? One team that Anthony has been rumored to favor is The Chicago Bulls. It has been rumored that Anthony asked a former Chicago Bulls player about what it’s like playing for coach Tom Thibodeau.
So is Anthony’s new found interest in Thibodeau just because he wants to get more background information on one of the best coaches in the league who was recently named as part of USA’s coaching staff, or is it because he is trying to get a jump start on gathering information on a team he might be bolting for. Which could very well happen since Joakim Noah is trying to recruit Anthony to play for The Bulls next season.
Personally I think Chicago is the best destination for Anthony to play, Thibodeau’s offense is a perfect fit by getting the ball in the hands of his best shooter by setting screens and moving the ball. Will Knicks President Phil Jackson be able to lure Anthony back to a New York Knicks team that has its hands tied due to cap space until the 2015 off season? (When Bargnani, Stoudemire, and Tyson Chandlers contracts come off the books.) Will Anthony decide to stay with the Knicks, who can offer him the most money? Or does he decide to choose the team that offers him a very talented roster. Until he opts out, these rumors mean nothing. Given he does opt out, we could be in for a long off season full of rumors.
