Rudy Gobert has become one of the most promising young centers in the league. The Utah Jazz big man is arguably the best defender at his position, routinely swatting shots away at the rim. He has grown as an offensive player, namely as a pick-and-roll dive threat.
One major issue in his game is still free throw shooting. In three seasons in the league, Gobert has a career 58.5% rate at the charity stripe. That’s not very good.
But there may be reason to feel optimistic if you’re a Jazz fan:
Rudy Gobert on his FTs: "I just made 25 in a row again today. My percentage is going to go way up this year." Says he makes 90% in practice.

That’s great to hear even if you’re not a Jazz fan. Utah promises to be an interesting team this year, even without Gordon Hayward for the first six weeks, but Hack-a-Shaq can instantly ruin the entertainment factor. We can only pray that Gobert doesn’t let that happen.
In all seriousness, I wouldn’t buy too much stock in this just yet. We’ve heard about Dwight Howard making 90% of his free throws in practice for the past five-plus years. Until I see it for a significant stretch in games, I’m not getting my hopes up, unlike Rudy Gobert.
