The NBA will release the regular-season calendar on Wednesday but some important dates and matchups have been revealed by reporters. One of the more interesting matchups, given the moves in the offseason, is Rudy Gobert facing his former team the Utah Jazz.
Chris Haynes from Yahoo Sports reported that the three-time All-Star will face the Jazz for the first time on October 21st at the Target Center in Minnesota. The Timberwolves travel to Utah on December 9th for Gobert’s first time going back to the city that welcomed him nine years ago.

Since the new era of the franchise started when they drafted Donovan Mitchell, the Jazz has enjoyed a small amount of success making the playoffs in five seasons. However, the team hasn’t been able to reach the Western Conference Finals.
In the offseasons, the front office decided to hit the rebuild button trading their All-Star center to the Minnesota Timberwolves for several role players and a haul of draft picks.
Gobert was drafted in 2013 as the 27th pick of the first round. With each season he kept improving his game until he became a defensive force in the paint. He has won three Defensive Player of the Year Awards and the league’s blocking title in the 2016-17 season.
