The war of words between Jazz center Rudy Gobert and Heat guard Dion Waiters took another turn on Monday, with Gobert responding to Waiters’ claim that he’s “in his feelings”.
“It’s not my feelings, it’s my knee,” Gobert said Monday, according to USA Today. “That’s a little more important.
“I like to play basketball. Sometimes if someone takes that away from you, you’ve got to get in your feelings for a reason.”
Gobert is alluding to the questionable decision from Dion Waiters when the Jazz and Heat played last week. In what appeared to be an effort to save a loose ball, Waiters dove directly into Gobert’s knee. Gobert’s leg suddenly turned inward momentarily.
Luckily for Gobert and the Jazz, he avoided a devastating injury and will miss just four weeks of action. Whether Waiters intentionally or unintentionally dove into Gobert is the question on everybody’s mind right now, however.
Dion Waiters was adamant last week that he didn’t intentionally dive into his knee, despite Jazz officials believing otherwise.
“I’ve never been a dirty player in my life,” Waiters said, according to the Sun Sentinel. “I went for the ball. Tell him to get out of his feelings and that’s what it is, just like that.”
Regardless of this, Gobert wasn’t buying it.
“He just dove right into my knee,” Gobert said, according to the Deseret News. “Kind of like the same thing that happened before on my MCL, so my knee just went inside and kind of popped inside and back out.”
