Rudy Gay has finally found a home. The forward has signed a two-year contract with the Spurs worth more than 17 million dollars, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Gay is recovering from a torn Achilles suffered last season as a member of the Sacramento Kings. He opted out of his contract earlier this summer, looking for more long-term security and a winning situation.
Gay had previously been linked to the Oklahoma City Thunder, Los Angeles Clippers, and Miami Heat but all three teams opted to spend big money on other forwards. He will likely be taking San Antonio’s full midlevel exception for the next two years.
Last season, Gay appeared in only 30 games for the Kings, averaging 18.7 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. He shot 45.5 percent from the field and 37.2 percent from three.
Gay will have to prove that he is capable of his former play after the major injury. However, he could see himself thrust into the starting lineup as the Spurs lack frontcourt depth. Succumbing to age and injury, Gay may be forced to play more minutes as a power forward to account for his declining athleticism.
