Rudy Gay Reportedly Reaches Extension With Kings
The Sacramento Kings and small forward Rudy Gay have reached an agreement on an extension, per Yahoo sources. The extension is said to start with the 2015-16 season and include a player option for the 2017-18 season.
From Yahoo Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski:
Gay’s agent, Alex Saratsis of Octagon, finalized the details of the deal with Sacramento management over the past several days, culminating with an agreement on Saturday night. The Kings have wanted to re-sign Gay for several months, and Gay decided to push forward with an agreement in recent days, deciding to bypass free agency in the summer.
With the extension Gay would have the option of becoming a free agent in 2017, when he’s 31.
Gay is averaging over 22 points and 6 rebounds for the Kings, who had a hot start to the season and are currently 6-4, and has become a critical offensive option for them on the wing. After coming from Memphis and Toronto it will be Rudy Gay and DeMarcus Cousins looking to liberate the Sacramento Kings together for the next few years.
