Drafted 16th overall by the Rockets in 2012, the 6’8 point forward out of Iowa State had tremendous upside. However, White has battled with an anxiety disorder which causes him fear of flying.
White recently took to twitter to praise Larry Sanders, who also is stepping away from the game to deal with anxiety, and said that while he is still dealing with his issues, he’s not done playing basketball.
“I respect Larry Sanders decision. Admirable! But if you think I’m done playing, you’re wrong. I never said I didn’t want to play, White tweeted.”
It will be interesting if White can make a return to the NBA, and if any teams would show interest in him. There is no question that the talent is there, but if and when he decides to make a come back, would teams even want to take a chance on him knowing his past and his battle with anxiety?
