Roy Hibbert Texted Tim Duncan For Advice
What propelled the Indiana Pacers to the top standing in the Eastern Conference last season was not their offensive prowess, but a stout defense, aggressive rebounding and paint play, and more like timely offense.
The San Antonio Spurs just put on the best offensive display in NBA Finals history this past June, and Pacers center Roy Hibbert wants in on the secret, via Candace Buckner of the Indy Star:
Roy Hibbert said he texted #Spurs‘ Tim Duncan for advice on how “they go about their business” #Pacers would like to imitate their ball mvmt

Indiana is going into this upcoming season without their star player Paul George and their second best offensive weapon in Lance Stephenson, who signed with the Charlotte Hornets this summer as a free agent. Hibbert’s challenge, after a disappointing and unproductive season, is to now become the cornerstone of this Pacers team, much like Duncan for his Spurs.
How San Antonio goes “about their business” has much to do with their discipline on and off the floor. The journey for Hibbert and the Pacers to fully emulate the Spurs’ effectiveness (at least) on the floor will be a long one.
