The Brooklyn Nets have suffered through a dismal start to their season at a 5-15 record. Despite the terrible record, however, they could hang their heads on their promising rookie Rondae Hollis-Jefferson. Unfortunately, the lone bright spot of the Nets’ season is now out indefinitely.
According to a statement given by the Brooklyn Nets and general manager Billy King, the rookie suffered a fracture in his right ankle and will have to undergo surgery for the injury. The injury was suffered during practice on Saturday. The Nets have not yet announced a timetable for his return, instead saying that that timetable will be established after the surgery.
Hollis-Jefferson has been a very good player for the Nets in the early stages of the season. He has been especially good on the defensive end where he averages more steals per game than any other rookie and has two games of five steals or more, while the rest of the rookie class has none. Losing Hollis-Jefferson will be a big blow to this Nets team and it may sink their record even lower. Unfortunately for the Nets, their first round pick belongs to the Boston Celtics.
According to Andy Vasquez of NorthJersey.com, RHJ is expected to miss about 10 weeks.
Nets haven't released an official timetable for Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, but Lionel Hollins just said it'll be about 10 weeks.
