“No more excuses,” IBF Flyweight Champion Sunny Edwards tweeted on Saturday, August 12.
The London native has secured the fight he’s publically called for throughout the last year. On December 16, he and WBO Flyweight Champion Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez will meet in Arizona for a highly-anticipated flyweight unification bout. Not only will both men put their undefeated records on the line, but they’ll move on step closer to a spot on the men’s pound-for-pound list and a shot to become the undisputed flyweight champion of the world.
The flyweight unification bout is one of several major bouts Matchroom Boxing has put on the books for the second half of 2023. In the aftermath of Joshua’s knockout of Helenius at the O2 Arena, Eddie Hearn and company will look to host a lightweight showdown in Mexico featuring Angel Fierro and Brayan Zamarippa Rodriguez on September 15. One week later, Richardson Hitchins will return to action in a super lightweight bout against Jose Zepeda. Rounding out the latest set of announcements, super middleweight contender Deigo Pacheco is set for a battle with Marcelo Coceres at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles on November 18.
No more excuses.
