
Rod Wave has announced that he will host a $25,000 gas giveaway in St. Petersburg, Florida this month. The best-selling singer announced the charitable giveaway on Instagram earlier this week.
“Gas [prices are] high as f*ck,” he said as he pumped gas in his home state of Florida.
“[I’m] giving away free gas [on] April 9, 2022 at the Sunoco on 34th [Street in St. Petersburg, Florida] right before you get on the bridge. I’m giving away $25,000 in free gas. So, [It’ll be on] April 9, 2022 at 12 [p.m. ET]. Pull up and get you a free full tank,” he added.
A recent report from SmartAsset, a financial information database, highlighted recent spikes in gas prices. In February of 2022, gas prices were 38% higher than they were a year before. Making matters worse, gas prices rose by an average of $0.71 per gallon throughout the U.S. from February to March. Entering April, gas prices around the U.S. sit at $4.23 per gallon.
To address rising gas prices, President Joe Biden has authorized the release of 1 million barrels of oil per day from the nation’s strategic petroleum reserve for six months.
“The bottom line is if we want lower gas prices we need to have more oil supply right now,” he said on Thursday, according to KOB 4 in New Mexico.
“This is a moment of consequence and peril for the world, and pain at the pump for American families.”
The Biden administration estimates that accessing will drop gas prices by “10 cents to 35 cents a gallon.”
