It’s coming everyone. The ‘KD2WHEREVER’ talk is getting back into full form after Durant showcased his talents in his first week back on a basketball court.
Durant looks healthy and he already is back in the full swing of things for the Thunder. As Oklahoma City has some big title hopes, their future is hinging on the fact that their star could leave once the season ends.
There’s been a big recruitment from the Washington Wizards and there has been for a while but now. The Wizards appear to be as serious as ever in their pursuit of Durant.
Ken Berger of CBS Sports reported the following.
Washington Wizards continue to lurk as a legitimate threat to the Oklahoma City Thunder’s efforts to keep Kevin Durant when he hits the unrestricted market on July 1, league sources say.
But Brian T. Smith of the Houston Chronicle is reporting that Washington might not be the only landing spot for KD. He could be making a crash landing in Houston.
But know this for certain in early November, with the still-figuring-it-out Rockets stuck at 1-3 and 78 regular-season games remaining before they can even reach another playoff test: Durant to Houston is already at the top of the dream board.
The Rockets want him, but of course they can’t say it. But you know they will do everything they reasonably can to land the six-time All-Star, 2013-14 MVP and former Longhorns great. And as with the shocking Harden trade and the Howard signing, they shouldn’t be counted out until Durant decides whether he’s staying in Oklahoma City or leaving for a bigger, grander stage.
Words of advice to both the Rockets and Wizards. Get in line. Not only will the Thunder have the best chance at having Durant return but about 20 other NBA teams will have max cap room and they all will be willing to throw it Durant’s way.
The wild speculation will continue and will only get worse when Durant returns to DC next week but for now, everyone can dream.
