K.J. McDaniels has bounced around the NBA for a few years and he hasn’t yet found a place to call home and display his talents since his days with the Philadelphia 76ers. Now he will be headed to the Brooklyn Nets and hopefully get a chance to get some playing time.

Unloading McDaniels to the Nets frees $3M in cap space to use on the buyout market for Houston.

The move was made by the Rockets to make them potential a potential landing spot for any future buyout candidates. McDaniels estimated $3.3 million for the remainder of this season and next season the Nets will have a club option for McDaniels worth $3.4 million thanks to the contract he signed with the Rockets in 2015. He could be a solid veteran rotation option for a team looking to rebuild. He provides defense, underrated athleticism and good size at the two position.
His stats haven’t been fantastic in his three seasons in the NBA but that’s mostly due to a lack of playing time on both the 76ers and Houston Rockets. It appears he’ll get an opportunity to shine on Brooklyn and potentially be a pretty decent starter for a Nets team looking to find some quality players.
