James Harden may be the necessary choice for “favorite player” amongst Rockets fans but Patrick Beverley is the real choice.
His time with the team might, unfortunately, be coming to an end, however.
According to Sean Deveney of Sporting News, Patrick Beverley is being shopped for trades and he seems just fine with that reality.
The Houston Rockets have been actively shopping point guard Patrick Beverley, a source with knowledge of the situation told Sporting News on Tuesday.
Beverley enjoyed playing for D’Antoni, he said multiple times last season. But other factors, the source said, have led the Rockets and Beverley to explore trade possibilities.
It appears the two may be headed for a split and it may just leave a void the Rockets are unprepared to fill. Aside from superb rebounding for his position, elite defense, and well above average outside shooting, Beverley brought a chip that landed on all his teammates shoulders and improved the competitiveness of the team. That will be hard to replicate.
