Houston Rockets have made it official. After speculation for about a week, their starting point guard, Patrick Beverley, will be out for the remainder of the season. He will require surgery on his wrist ligaments and Beverley has elected to take to get a procedure.

This is horrible news for the Rockets as they just slid into the number 2 seed in the Western Conference and have been playing well since the return of Dwight Howard.
Beverley’s value on the defensive end can not be exactly measured. Out of all the point guards currently in the Western Conference playoff picture, he might be the least talented on the offensive end but he is at the top of the list of the best defenders. He agitates you to no end when he defends you, gets in your pocket and isn’t afraid to go up against your best perimeter option. The Rockets were ok without Pat Bev being proficient offensively because of James Harden’s skill making up for it.
Now with Beverley out, the Rockets will look to start Jason Terry at the point guard and bring in Pablo Prigioni to relieve Terry and you might even see a sprinkle of the rookie Nick Johnson as well.
With Beverley out, Rockets have started Terry, going 9-0 in his starts. He and Prigioni have been splitting time.

Not your best options for point guards but right now, it will certainly have to do. James Harden better stretch his back out because he will have to do a lot of carrying during the playoffs.
