The list of potential coaching candidates is still rising. The amount of interviews teams like the Houston Rockets are going to hold is staggering. But that also means that they have to make their decisions quick. The smorgasbord of recently fired coaches can easily be wiped away because it’s not just the Rockets that are looking for a new head coach.
With that said, the Indiana Pacers are one of them, letting Frank Vogel walk. But another man’s trash is another man’s treasure and that’s why the Rockets are adding Frank Vogel to their list of coaching candidates.
The moment Frank Vogel became a free agent, the Rockets already had spent seven hours interviewing him.
But the interview was in 2011, when Vogel was in limbo as Pacers interim coach and the Rockets would soon choose Kevin McHale.
If the Rockets consider Vogel again, as expected, he would join a growing field of candidates.
Hornacek, Jeff Van Gundy, Lionel Hollins to name a few. They’ve already interviewed several candidates including Mike D’Antoni.
I have a feeling that in the coming weeks there will be one day where every team goes for their no.1 option. I have a feeling hearts will be broken and they’ll have to take the contingency. The Rockets should be swift and get somebody fast before they miss out.
