The Rockets and Mavericks have always been a bit of a rivalry from the days of T-Mac and Dirk to now, but this certainly brings it to a whole new level. Tuesday night The Rockets were on the verge of eliminating The Dallas Mavericks, and everyone went nuts over this tweet.

Digital communications manager Chad Shanks was dismissed from his role with The Houston Rockets. Was the punishment a bit steep? No. I do understand what Chad was going for with the tweet though social media for any company or franchise even is a very important way to keep in contact with your fans or customers.
The Rockets do not want their image tarnished because of this and they made the right call. Maybe dismissing Shanks from that role and finding him another gig within the company might have been more beneficial, but that’s just my opinion.
People do make mistakes and especially on social media. There’s a competitive edge to gain followers have a trending tweet you name it there’s a level of importance.
Chad Shanks did apologize on his personal twitter and does not seem bitter about the situation at all.
I was surprised myself to see the tweet and certainly surprised you can get fired for two emojis now welcome to new age technology I guess and remember tweet responsibly.
