During his playing days, Robert Horry was known for knocking down big shot after big shot. Now, it’s his son’s turn to show out on the hardwood and his father is his biggest supporter. While Horry’s son is a phenomenal football talent and has committed to Texas A&M for college, he still plays organized basketball and recently competed in the Nike Basketball 3ON3 Tournament in Los Angeles.
During a game, things took a turn for the worse on the sidelines as an opposing teams fan heckled Robert Horry and eventually gave him a hard shove in the chest. Horry didn’t take kindly to the shove and things escalated quickly between the two as the former Laker is seen throwing a few punches though it isn’t clear whether he connected on any of them. A video was filmed of the public scuffle, courtesy of TMZ Sports:
Obviously, throwing punches is never a good look no matter the circumstances but his heckler was the one who made it physical and was clearly the instigator. Horry spoke to TMZ about what unfolded and insisted that he was only doing what he thought was necessary to defend himself in the situation:
“The guy was trash talking the whole game. He shoved me. Where I’m from, you protect yourself…”
Horry claims this isn’t the first time the guy has been verbally abusive … saying he’s trash talked his son’s team in the past.
Horry is known for more than anything else as a winner, compiling 7 titles during his illustrious 16-year tenure in the NBA and hopefully this is the last negative news we get about him during retirement. It remains to be seen whether the Los Angeles Police Department will launch an investigation.
