Rihanna will be honored with the President’s Award during the 51st NAACP Image Awards.
The recognition is bestowed to public figures to celebrate their achievements and distinguished public service. Rihanna makes perfect sense for the honor. The pop-star is not only a decorated singer but a global force in fashion and beauty. These accomplishments have earned Rihanna placement on Forbes ‘Highest-Paid Women In Entertainment‘ list.
Rihanna also runs the Clara Lionel Foundation which funds, some raised through her annual Diamond Ball, help create effective education and emergency response programs globally. Previous recipients of the NAACP President’s Award include Jay-Z, Muhammad Ali, and Spike Lee.
“From her business achievements through Fenty to her tremendous record as an activist and philanthropist, Rihanna epitomizes the type of character, grace, and devotion to justice that we seek to highlight in our President’s Award.” says NAACP President Derrick Johnson in a statement.
The 51st annual NAACP Image Awards air live on BET on Saturday, February 22 at 8 p.m. Eastern.
