Rihanna continues to go above and beyond her status as a pop music icon. Fenty Beauty has the cosmetics industry falling in line, Savage Fenty lingerie’s stellar NYFW showing made waves and her Fenty X Puma collaboration specializes in creating street-wear trends. Rihanna excels in philanthropy and social reform with initiatives such as Clara Lionel Foundation providing education for girls across the globe. Her country Barbados even named a street in her honor. Will Fenty Politics be next? The “bad gal” uses her platform to stand for and against political issues, most recently demanding Donald Trump not play her music during his “tragic rallies”
White House Bureau Chief at The Washington Post and political analyst for MSNBC & NBC News Phillip Rucker took to Twitter to describe the sports arena like atmosphere during Trump’s Chattanooga rally. The vivid description included details that Rihanna’s hit song Don’t Stop The Music played as Trump supporters caught t-shirts being thrown into the crowd.
Becoming aware of the events usage of her music, Rihanna quickly made it known that she does not want her art affiliated with Donald Trump. The artist responded to Rucker via Twitter saying “me nor my people would ever be at or around one of those tragic rallies, so thanks for the heads up, Phillip!”

Throughout her career, Rihanna consistently voices unapologetically about social and political issues and the condemnation of her music being played at Donald Trump rallies are not the only recent events where she makes her stance known. US Weekly reports Rihanna turned down the opportunity to perform during the 2019 Super Bowl halftime show in support of Colin Kaepernick.
“The NFL and CBS really wanted Rihanna to be next year’s performer in Atlanta,” the insider reveals. “They offered it to her, but she said no because of the kneeling controversy. She doesn’t agree with the NFL’s stance.”
Rihanna also endorses Florida Democrat Andrew Gillium for governor, sharing a message to vote in his favor via social media encouraging her fans to make history this election.
