Everyone loves themselves a great documentary. In the world of music, many fans love the idea of seeing their favorite artists’ lives before they became the superstars they know them to be. With that being said, it is being reported that Rihanna may be getting her own documentary under the direction of the newly formed Film 45 film/tv production company.
One of the first projects that Film 45 will produce is a theatrical feature documentary about music superstar Rihanna, which Berg will direct. A contemporary take on the 1967 Bob Dylan rock doc Dont Look Back, the film is described as an “unfiltered look into Rihanna’s life and how she’s ascended to become a global icon.” Berg, who gave Rihanna her acting start with a role in his movieBattleship, said that he liked the idea of examining “a young artist at the top of her professional field” and that the project will be “much more a character study than a music film.”
As a personal fan of countless documentaries expanding outside of music, it’ll be interesting to see another glimpse of the Bajan superstar’s life prior to the stardom she’s at today. There’s no current word on when the documentary will be released. but If it holds true, one can assume it’ll be some time during the R8 era.
