Ridley Scott is producing an Ebola-themed limited run drama series for Fox Studios.
Scott is working with producer Lynda Obst on adapting Richard Preston’s 1994 non-fiction book The Hot Zone.
Scott’s adaptation was originally meant to be a feature film, but over the past year has been morphed into a television series.
Scott is said to direct at least one episode of The Hot Zone if it is picked up to be a full series.
This adaptation of The Hot Zone could also include new elements from an article currently being written by Preston on the latest Ebola outbreak.
An outbreak in West Africa has left more than 4,000 people dead. The recent death of Thomas Eric Duncan from the disease in Dallas became the first casualty on US soil.
Two nurses who treated Duncan have since been diagnosed with Ebola.
