There’s a difference between wanting something and then actually getting it.
This is a prime example of someone wanting something and most likely not getting it. Get ready to laugh.
According to CBS Sports (wait for it) Ricky Rubio wants a maximum contract from the Timberwolves.
Even after factoring that there’s a salary floor which teams have to hit so they have to spend some money, and factoring that Rubio’s a tremendous on-ball defender and playmaker, and the fact that he’s their most bankable star… this is a bad idea for Minnesota.
Rubio averaged 9.5 points, 8.5 assists and 2.3 steals per game last season. He’s a phenomenal defender and despite shooting 38 percent from the field.
That is a tragic statline. Max players average 38% from the three point line, not in overall field goal percentage!
Sure he passes well and can steal a ball, but you cannot possibly assume a max contract. Especially from a team that needs point production.
Minnesota are inevitably going to be a lottery team. It just depends when KLove leaves whether it be a trade this year or him leaving next year. Rubio. You’re not getting max. Not everybody can be Gordon Hayward.
