Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio is reportedly having surgery on his left ankle next week according to Yahoo Sports.
Last week, the team shut Rubio down for the rest of the season after playing most of the year on that injured ankle. Rubio first sprained it back on November 7th against the Magic, a day after signing a $55 million extension with the team.
This season was Rubio’s worst stats wise, shooting 35.6% from the field including 25.5% from beyond the arc. He still manged to average 10.3 points per game and just under nine assists in just 22 games.
Yahoo is reporting that Rubio should be ready by the start of next season, but it’s highly unlikely he will play for Team Spain at the European basketball championships
