After a very disappointing start to the season that no one saw coming, the Dallas Mavericks have looked like a new team as of late. With the emergence of Seth Curry and the stellar play of Wesley Matthews, the Mavericks have a record of 7-3 in their last ten games and only 2.5 games out of the 8th seed. Their ability to turn their season around is thanks in big part to head coach Rick Carlisle.
A perfect example of Carlisle’s coaching prowess came Wednesday night against the Philadelphia 76er’s. During a timeout in the second quarter, Carlisle went an alternative route to inspire his players and simply drew a reset button on his whiteboard.
Both hilarious and unorthodox, this technique managed to work as it sparked a run and the Mavericks went on to win 113-95. Whether or not the run had anything to do with the reset button, Carlisle is finding news ways to speak to his players and deserves credit for turning their season around.
Wesley Matthews said during a 2Q TO, Rick Carlisle literally drew a reset button, and Seth Curry literally pushed it. Launched a Mavs run.

Like… on the dry erase board, Carlisle drew a circle with “reset” inside it. That really did happen.

Curry said no coach of his has done anything like that before, but it helped him get right. “It was funny. It was a cute little tactic.”
