Leave it to Rick Carlisle to keep things 100 percent honest.
Carlisle’s Dallas Mavericks have been an undefinable team halfway through the NBA season. The Mavs are 18-30, the fourth worst record in the league. They have also gone 7-3 over their last team including back-to-back wins over the Spurs and Cavaliers.
The win over the Cavs on Monday was the ultimate crazy moment in Dallas as the defending champs fell short of a team on the second night of a back-to-back.
But fear not: Carlisle has a slightly NSFW explanation!
Rick Carlisle on the Mavs: "We're a shit team, but we're an underrated shit team. That's about as accurately as I can put it."

Well he’s not entirely wrong, even if Wesley Matthews thinks Rick Carlisle is just as much of a culprit:
Wesley Matthews: "Quote me, I want Rick to know he's included in this shit too." All smiles.

The Mavs have a perfect storm of good but not great talent, plenty of injuries, and a great head coach that routinely leads overachieving teams. That means that some nights they will look like the worst team in basketball and other times they will beat the defending champs.
That might not lead to anything of note this season, but at least they won’t be laying down against top competition.
