As the Dallas Mavericks usher in a new era and a fresh roster loaded with young talent, rumors have swirled about free agent acquisition Deandre Jordan’s fit with the club.
Obviously, Jordan is a savvy vet when compared to the amount of inexperienced pieces they have, leading some to believe Jordan has been selfish to start the season. However, head coach Rick Carlisle calls these rumors out as pure fabrication with a few choice words. Following from ESPN’s Mike Peasley.

Though some may have perceived DeAndre Jordan as being selfish early on in the season, most signs say otherwise. Not only has their head coach now denied those rumors, but the Mavericks have started to play winning basketball recently, coming out on top in three consecutive outings with Jordan playing a major role.
Jordan isn’t the type of ball-dominant player that many typically regard as selfish either. Though his defense has certainly took a dip, he continues to be a menace on the glass and is still one of the finest pick-and-roll finishers the league has to offer, a trait that works beautifully with rookie guard Luka Doncic.
Moving forward, Jordan will likely continue anchoring Dallas’ starting unit as they continue to gel. With so many young pieces such as Doncic and Dennis Smith Jr. still finding their rhythm, 2018 will moreso be a year of learning each other than actual playoff aspirations for Dallas.
