Richard Jefferson had previously announced he would retire. The Cleveland Cavaliers just won the NBA Finals and RJ made it known he would step away from the game. Almost immediately, he regretted his decision. He was at the Cavs championship parade and took back his announcement, telling fans he was going to come back for them. He even went as far to say he wanted to play 2-3 more years, possibly alongside the man he says he owes his career to, LeBron James.
As the offseason deals transpired, the Cavs had to make a move to help bolster their roster. With guys like Timofey Mozgov and Matthew Dellavedova signing contracts elsewhere, they had to do something.
Jefferson is the first member of the Cavs to officially announce he will be rejoining the Cavs.
Jefferson posted the following on his snapchat.

He’s the first member of the Cavaliers to accept a deal to remain with the team. LeBron James has said he will stay with the Cavs but no terms of his deal have been released. James is expected to do a 2-year deal or the “1+1” contract which allows him to opt out after one year. For Jefferson, this really could be the end of the road. Maybe for real after this season.
