The best way to describe ‘Were the Millers’ is a mix between ‘National Lampoon’s Vacation’ and basically any recent stoner comedy.
‘We’re the Millers’ follows a drug dealer turned drug smuggler (there is a difference) who puts together a fake family to smuggle a smidge and a half of marijuana across the US/Mexico border.
The filmmakers knew this was going to be a dumb comedy and definitely played to that. Many of the jokes are hit or miss but, that’s not to say there aren’t some big laughs throughout the flick. In fact, the most hilarious joke actually comes during the bloopers at Jennifer Aniston’s expense. The rest are vulgar quips and situational comedy scenes that receive a few chuckles at best.
Overall, ‘We’re the Millers’ is an enjoyable comedy but nothing special. Enter into the theater with low expectations and you will certainly be pleased.
