‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ kicks off Hollywood’s summer season off right.
The sequel to 2012’s smash ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ finds Peter Parker trying to balance his life of being a crime fighting superhero and a normal teenage boy. When not one…not two…but THREE villains ransack New York City, Spidey will have to choose between being with Gwen Stacy, the love of his life, or savings millions of civilians.
No expense was spared when it came to special effects. Electro is probably the best looking Spiderman villain yet with an electriclly charged performance by Jamie Foxx coated with a sleek blue finish. One particular battle scene in Times Square is rich with color and CGI’ed destruction that is visual eye candy.
Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone bring their off camera relationship to the big screen with excellent chemistry and banter.
Since the film boasts three villains, a superhero, and a girlfriend, many character lines get intersected and woven which makes the plot very complicated and characters get lost. Paul Giamatti as Rhino only makes a brief appearance at the end of the film and is solely used to set up ASM 3 so if that is what you are waiting for, unfortunately you will have to wait a little bit longer.
‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ is a highly entertaining blockbuster that wont disappoint fans despite its dense plot. It boasts spot on visual effects that you will not get bored with. The film is enough to have you come back for the third installment of the franchise which is expected to hit theaters on June 10, 2016.
PS: Don’t forget to stay midway through the credits for a first look at ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ featuring Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique.
