Reuben Foster’s tumultuous time with the San Francisco 49ers is over. The linebacker was arrested in Tampa ahead of the 49ers game against the Buccaneers Saturday night on charges of domestic violence battery. He was taken to jail and has remained ever since. He has, however, been released from the San Francisco 49ers.
same woman who accused him before and recanted, when the niners crossed their fingers and hopes for the best. guess they couldn’t do that this time. https://t.co/qW6IKxhyGk

Foster was questionable to play before the arrest on account of a hamstring injury.
The 49ers were not shy about how excited they were to get Reuben Foster with the 31st pick in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. San Francisco apparently considered taking Foster with the third pick they owned, but instead took defensive end, Solomon Thomas. Then managed snagged Foster at the end of the round. The linebacker was hugely productive in college at Alabama. But it’s easy to see now how off-field question marks factored into his lower-than-expected draft selection.
For Foster, this is just the most recent domestic violence accusation. He’s also been suspended for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.
Kyle Shanahan earlier this year when LB Reuben Foster was dealing with DV allegations:
“We can promise you guys – if there is someone who ever hits their significant other, gfs, some person like that, that person is not going to be on our team…” https://t.co/TMgJYFLRcJ— Laura Britt (@Laura_Britt_) November 25, 2018
This is the second pro season for the 24-year-old linebacker. He’s appeared in 16 games and made a total of 101 tackles, including ten for loss. He’s now a free agent, but his chances of catching on elsewhere would assumingly be slim, given the circumstances.
