Report: Tom Thibodeau’s Relationship With Bulls Management “Beyond Repair”
The Chicago Bulls management and head coach Tom Thibodeau are seemingly having issues. This has been reported before, which was followed by a public backing from Derrick Rose. It’s also been reported that there is no running conflict between Thibodeau and the higher ups, which also resulted in a public defense from Bulls GM John Paxson.
But sources from K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune seem convinced that this relationship is headed downhill fast:
several league sources believe Thibodeau’s relationship with management is beyond repair.
And while there are no plans to replace Thibodeau during the season, a mutual PARTING OF
the ways after this season wouldn’t surprise many league personnel familiar with the deteriorating dynamic.
Tom Thibodeau has helped establish another successful, respectable, and winning culture in Chicago. His defensive priorities and tough-minded mentality has spilled into these recent Bulls teams. More importantly, his philosophy and style helped keep the Bulls afloat competitively when Derrick Rose first went down.
The identity of this team has been Tom Thibodeau since he arrived. So it begs the question, what kind of identity is the Bulls management looking for? Are they looking to switch things up and really embrace this new offensive mentality and make up of the roster? This “deteriorating dynamic” that Johnson describes in Chicago could put simply one of the best coaches available on the market after this season.
As a caveat, if Thibodeau were to coach this team to a championship this season, none of this should even matter.
