We’ve seen numerous amounts of smoke screens in the NBA this off season, and now the smoke has cleared and finally we have some fire. This past weekend The Cleveland Cavaliers team shop suddenly put Andrew Wiggins jerseys on “back order” and Kevin Love jerseys were discounted heavily. So that’s common it’s NBA off season and jerseys see some sort of discount in the off season and who doesn’t want the number one overall picks jersey at the moment? C’mon now I think we all see what’s going on here.
Over the weekend The Minnesota Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor let the cat out of the bag by saying Kevin Love has made it clear he wants a trade, and that he can see a trade happening around August 23rd or 24th. Andrew Wiggins cannot be traded until August 23rd which would be the first day he’s allowed to be traded from the 30 days after agreeing to his rookie contract. So clearly we see some sort of layout here.
This afternoon ESPN’s Brian Windhorst confirmed to us what we all expected:
The deal is done but not done. The teams have agreed, but they can’t say they have agreed and they can’t agree, because we’re in this weird moratorium period because you can’t trade Andrew Wiggins until the 23rd of this month.
So, between now and then – which is, what, 19 days – could some of that happen? Could a team come in with a trade that maybe Minnesota doesn’t see? Yes, it could happen. So therefore it is not done.
But essentially what you need to know if you’re an NBA fan, Kevin Love is going to be on the Cavs barring anything unforeseen, and and Andrew Wiggins, No. 1 overall pick, is going to be on Minnesota.
