The Orlando Magic are quietly playing much better after a slow start to the year. They currently have a 10-13 record and have an outside chance of contending for a playoff spot.
Despite their current record, however, it’s clear that there are some personnel issues on their roster. They have too many starting-level bigs and not enough playmaking on the perimeter.
That’s why, according to Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel, the Magic are looking around the league to trade for a scoring threat:
The Orlando Magic will sift through the trade market in an effort to add a scorer, a league source with knowledge of the situation told the Orlando Sentinel.
Though it may have just been speculation, ESPN’s Marc Stein tweeted that Mario Hezonja could be an asset they are willing to trade.
More evidence to suggest that the Magic, who are openly seeking a scoring boost via trade, are willing to move Hezonja in the right deal … https://t.co/IJunuX9cFk

Hezonja has struggled since being drafted and hardly plays for the Magic. So his trade value is not very high. If the Magic want a more significant piece, they would need to include more than just Hezonja.
And they do need some scorers or playmakers on the offensive end. The Orlando Magic’s offensive rating of 97.5 points per 100 possessions is worse than every team except the 76ers and Mavs. That’s not great company.
If the Magic want to give themselves a shot at the postseason, a trade could and should be on the horizon.
