The Boston Celtics were dealt a slight blow on the injury front this week. Second year guard Marcus Smart is expected to be out ‘a few weeks’ according to a report from CSNNE.com. The injury has been deemed to be a bone bruise. Smart will not require surgery, which was a possibility after the initial prognosis of the injury.
The Celtics will look for help off their bench while they try to stay afloat with Smart. Avery Bradley and Evan Turner will likely be asked to contribute more in order to make up for the loss.
So far this season, Smart has been solid if unspectacular while doing most of his damage on the defensive end. The more minutes he can play, the sooner he will develop into a good NBA player. This injury will set him back some, but luckily it does not seem to be too serious.
