Well I guess if you can’t join ’em, coach ’em? Kenyon Martin is a free agent right now and is having a tough time finding a landing spot with any NBA team but according to Shams Charania of Real GM, Martin might take his hand in coaching. With the Houston Rockets.
The Houston Rockets met with free agent Kenyon Martin today — to discuss a possible coaching staff role, league sources tell RealGM.

What can Martin actually coach though? He was never a real dominate presence in the post, didn’t do any one thing so crazy good that he should be a coach for an NBA team and by no means is an all-time great in any aspect. I’ll give it to you though, he was a tough defender, very athletic and could finish strong when he gets to the rim. Then again, you can say that about a few other players as well. If Martin gets a job based off those credentials, what about guys like Ben Wallace or Shawn Kemp? That’s definitely up for debate.
He would have the respect of the players, seeing as most of the guys now would see him as a leader who can guide them through what is going on in the current NBA as Martin just recently played with the Knicks to end last season.
Either way, you have to wish a guy like Kenyon Martin the best of luck. A tough player who just never found himself to a ring in the league.
