The Miami Heat are in a somewhat difficult position. The team is looking to add superstar level talent in Kevin Durant while retaining its own free agents. Not having Bird Rights for Hassan Whiteside, who reportedly is focused on either staying in Miami or going to Dallas, makes this all the more difficult.
That’s why the Heat will surely be looking to clear up cap space in any way possible. The most likely candidate is power forward Josh McRoberts.
Have heard this from multiple places: Heat continues to explore moving McRoberts, but may need to attach pick it gets from 3rd team

McRoberts is currently on the books for just under six million dollars. Shedding that salary without bringing in any in return could be a huge step in clearing enough room to retain Whiteside and potentially add another all-star.
In order to do so, however, the Heat would likely have to auction off assets to the team taking McBob and his contract. Heat president Pat Riley has never had a problem doing that with draft picks, but it could become dangerous. If the Heat team that was eliminated in the second round last season has reached its peak with this core, giving up valuable draft picks could come back to bite them in a monstrous way.
Nevertheless, this is something to keep an eye on as a very possible move the Heat make. Josh McRoberts’ days in Miami could be numbered.
