Report: Denver Nuggets Not Looking To Trade Ty Lawson
With the trade deadline approaching this Thursday, Ty Lawson is one of many names on the Denver Nuggets roster that teams might be looking to inquire about. In fact, that is literally the case.
But the Nuggets reportedly won’t look to trade Lawson, from Christopher Dempsey of the Denver Post:
There are players available for trades on the Nuggets’ roster, but, for now, Ty Lawson isn’t one of them.
Several teams have called the Nuggets about his availability, but Denver has turned them away, intent on keeping its veteran point guard, according to an NBA source.
The Nuggets are also not actively shopping Lawson.
Players that do seem to be available from the Nuggets are Arron Afflalo and Wilson Chandler. Although it was reported recently that Lawson and Kenneth “The Manimal” Faried were up on the trading block, but it appears that minds have changed, at least in Lawson’s case.
Ty Lawson is one of the league leaders in assists this season, tied with John Wall. Trading Lawson amidst that type of production wouldn’t make too much sense in such a guard-heavy league right now. If not actively shopping Lawson is now the decision then he has to keep trying to lead this Nuggets team to a new and consistent identity.
And by Thursday’s trade deadline Lawson could have some different co-workers.
