Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins suffered from a strained Achilles in last week’s loss to the Los Angeles Clippers. While the injury was mostly deemed as a minor one, it has kept Cousins out of play for the last two games. There was initially some hope that he would be able to play this weekend, but that appears unlikely:

This is probably more of a case of being cautious with the injury to insure that no further damage is done to the Kings’ star. The Kings have started the season 1-4 and despite some hopes for playoff contention, Cousins’ long term health is clearly much more important.
Meanwhile, the Kings will play the Houston Rockets and Golden State Warriors without Cousins, and will hope to get more contributions from offseason acquisition Kosta Koufos and rookie Willie Cauley-Stein.
