The Cleveland Cavaliers for the past month looked like they were set on Center Joel Embiid with the number one overall pick. Unfortunately things change and injuries occur like the stress fracture that forced Embiid to get surgery that will sideline him for 4-6 months. As soon as the Embiid injury was discovered it has been a two man race between Wiggins and Parker. According to Ken Berger of CBS Sports Jabari Parker is the selection with the number one overall pick (for now).
Andrew Wiggins was rumored to be the number one pick last week in the many mock drafts we’ve seen out, but after Parker worked out for Cleveland there’s reports of Parker impressing Cleveland with his passion and overall skillset. Parker reportedly didn’t shoot that well in the workout and didn’t have as an impressive workout as Embiid or Wiggins had. If Parker is the pick at one they’re going for the most NBA ready player in the draft. His skill set would provide the Cavaliers with another scoring option for Kyrie Irving to have in the lineup. Parker in my opinion starts right away at small forward considering Cleveland’s biggest need is at the small forward position.
