Update:
As ESPN’s Marc Stein reports, there is a very high chance that this means Simmons will go to Philly:
Sources say Ben Simmons' workout for the Sixers today is the strongest indication yet Philadelphia has promised to select Simmons at No. 1.

There is little chance, sources say, Simmons' agent Rich Paul would have granted Philly permission to hold a workout without such a promise.

Cleveland.com’s Chris Haynes confirmed that report:
This morning Philadelphia 76ers informed camp of Ben Simmons he would be taken No. 1 in NBA Draft, league sources tell @clevelanddotcom.

In two days, Ben Simmons will officially know which NBA team he will be taking his talents to. As it stands now, the LSU freshman is seen by most as the probable first overall pick in the draft. That would place the power forward in Philadelphia as the potential star for the 76ers to build around.
While most believed Simmons would eventually be picked by Philadelphia, nothing is certain. The Aussie forward met with team officials last week, adding another piece of evidence to that guess. Now, there may be another huge clue as to where Simmons will be playing next season.
Multiple sources confirm the @PompeyOnSixers report that the #sixers have worked out Ben Simmons

Previous reports mentioned that Simmons would not work out with any team. That report certainly made sense considering he had nothing to gain from such an event.
The fact that Simmons did work out for the 76ers is important based on that reasoning alone. The Sixers may have guaranteed that they would draft him with their first overall pick, and the workout may have been mostly a case of formality.
The draft is only two days away but we may already know when and by whom Ben Simmons will be taken.
