Back in the day where ESPN was a little known network and was still a small conglomerate compared to what it is today, there was a man in 1993 that came to the network and changed the game forever. Stuart Scott, 49, came to ESPN and took the sports world by storm. He dominated the broadcasting game and revolutionized broadcasting and made a name for himself in more ways than one.
His legendary catch-phrases like “Holla at a playa when you see him in the street.”, “Call him butta, cause he’s on a roll”, “Cooler than the other side of the pillow”, “He got his PHD, his playa hating degree” or simply, the ever so classic, “Booyah” made everything different. Scott changed up the game of sports broadcasting and was a hero to many and a friend to many more.
He interviewed the best of the best. President’s Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, legendary athletes like Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods and Shaquille O’Neal. He was a main stay on ESPN’s programming for years with different NFL and NBA shows. He transcended the sports broadcasting world.
When Scott was diagnosed with cancer and for 7 long years, he fought it as hard as he could for not only himself but for his family, his daughters and ESPN family.
There are not many more words to say about Stuart Scott and his impact to the world of sports. The only thing to do is to show everyone what he means to the sports world and to people everywhere. ESPN will presumably be broadcasting tributes of Scott for today and a long time to come.
